Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with the UK Prime Minister, Theresa May on the second day of his 3-day state visit to the United Kingdom. Issues such as climate change are expected to be discussed in the talks. Large scale protests have been planned by various groups who oppose the U.S. President’s visit to the UK. A protest is expected to take place at the Trafalgar Square.
Scheduled to be among the delegates is the Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt who will be one of the senior ministers present during the talks. The Labour Leader, Jeremy Corbyn is expected to address the protesters.
Donald Trump with Theresa May will co-host a breakfast meeting of British and American business leaders at St. James Palace where talks will be held to improve trade links between the United Kingdom and the United States. Among guests expected to attend the breakfast meeting are The Duke of York, Chancellor Phillip Hammond, Ivanka Tump and the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Mrs. May is expected to step down on Friday as the Tory leader, a key controversial topic is also expected to be discussed which include UK’s use of the Chinese telecommunications giant, Huawei to build its 5G Network. Delegates from both the UK and the US are expected during the talks which will address US-UK bilateral positions.
As talks are expected between the US and the U.K. team of delegates, thousands of people are preparing for wide scale protests against Donald Trump’s visit to the United Kingdom. Protests are planned in Glasgow, Chester, Exeter, Oxford and Stoke. A national demonstration is expected to kick off in the Trafalgar Square by 11.00 BST. The organizers of the demonstration had earlier called for a carnival-like atmosphere for the protest. Police in London have deployed large scale presence in central London to ensure no disruption to the U.S. president’s visit.

During Donald Trump’s visit to the UK in 2018, a huge six-meter “Trump baby” balloon was mounted in protest of his visit. Jeremy Corbyn, Labour leader plans to boycott the state dinner to join the rally where leaders of other political parties are expected to attend. Jeremy Corbyn twitted that the protest is to stand in solidarity with people Donald Trump has attacked in the United States, in the UK and around the world.
Some hours before touching down in London, Donald Trump re-kindled his feud with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan calling him a “stone cold looser”.
During his first day in London, Donald Trump was welcomed by the Queen and was treated to a lunch at the Buckingham Palace with senior royals. Trump and his wife later visited the Westminster Abbey from where they proceeded to the Clarence House for a tea with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.
Ending the day was a state banquet at the Buckingham Palace. Mr. Trump praised British people’s courage during the World Two and also called the Queen “a great woman”. The Queen is expected to attend the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings which coincides with the U.S. President’s visit. Trump and other heads of state is expected to grace the occasion.
